There are certainly some cases where someone can believe a few crackpot things and still be a genius in other areas, or at least professionally competent. Newton and alchemy. Arthur Conan Doyle and fairy photos. Most of us have one or two geraniums in our cranium, and if we are grounded in reason and reality for most of the rest of our existence, and the beliefs are comfortably pocketed away from most of our professional and intellectual existence, we might fall under the tolerant umbrella of "eccentric."
The problem is that many of the people you submit for our commentary have an enormous avalanche of such things. This is why I generally restrict my commentary to copying extensive lists of these ideas. To believe ALL this crap at the same time is a serious indication of a brain like cheese.
