The Quiet Militia.
To me, the armed citizenry constitutes the militia. There is no need for organization. Militias are organized in response to emergencies. It would be difficult to decree a call to arms with an unarmed populace.
An antiquated point of view perhaps, but declaring the intent of the 2nd amendment as 'outmoded' is fine- as long as you can guarantee the conditions under which it was written will never occur again.
I'd rather not leave that judgment up to gun control advocates.
