Something like 30 - 40 percent of the price rise is attributable to the value of the dollar (depending on who you ask), which leaves about 60 percent that nobody wants to look at very closely. You can arrive at a good guess yourself by comparing the percentage decrease in the dollar value over the past year or two with the percent increase in oil prices.

For thirty years we have been suppressing domestic coal, oil, and shale resources, nuclear power plants, new power plants of any kind (including hydroelectric), transmission lines, you name it. This policy has come from, with very few exceptions, one side of the aisle. It's small wonder they want to focus on the falling dollar.
