I remember A C Clarke also writing that more advanced civilizations would be more tolerant, as they would have survived nuclear holocaust.
Isn't it interesting that confidence in a more tolerant civilization would come from more socialist countries while conservative ones (analyzing their own) would not ?
If they do exist, they'll find us no matter what we do.
