"Treasury, Fed to help prop up mortgage giants. Propose extending more credit, equity purchase in Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac."
There have been obvious signs. The Federal Government not allowing it's agencies to negotiate the price of pharmaceuticals, for instance. Pure socialism. Bear Stearns was a omen, a prime example of corporate socialism at work. Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, because of the scale, settles the matter.
And I doubt very much if someone could go to the Feds and ask them to extend a loan on their house, maybe a little operating capital, possibly buy the back bedroom and rent it back at no charge.
I doubt very much if Bush will stop talking about the US exporting "free enterprise", etc. and so on. It's a joke.

I believe we can give up the idea America stands for "free enterprise", "capitalism". Except for the little guy.
