"U.S. air strike in Pakistan linked to database gap."
After the characteristic "it didn't happen, or if it did happen it wasn't our fault", something closer to the truth seems to come out.
"Pakistan disagrees with findings that the Pakistani forces may have been intermingled with insurgents who had crossed back into Pakistan after firing on U.S. troops in Afghanistan. It also denies U.S. assertions that a Pakistan liaison officer approved of the air strike."
I realize this isn't the recent incident involving civilians, but the pattern is the same. Excuses and denial for as long as it can be gotten away with. I don't think the civilians, with only the friends, families, and local authorities to substantiate the claim, can stand up to an official US "investigation".
