Belgians buy American beer... government collapses
St. Louis, MO (AHN) -- As American as apple pie, beer giant Anheuser-Bush has sold to the European beer company, InBev.
The acquisition was officially announced early this week. InBev, the global beer corporation, paid $52 billion to purchase the American brewery, adding Budweiser and Michelob to its inventory of international brews.
InBev, a Belgian corporation that is strategically positioning itself to have plenty to offer in a global market, owns other popular beers such as Stella Artois, Becks, and Hoegaarden.
BRUSSELS, Belgium (AP) -- Belgium's king refused to accept the resignation of the prime minister and his government, calling on key officials to redouble efforts to resolve a longtime disagreement over more self-rule for the country's Dutch and French speakers.
