Cryptozoology is/was the science of discovering
new creatures that had or have been elusive or
previously unknown
i.e., Loch Ness monster, Bigfoot, and other mythical or exotic/rare creatures.

In the past few months there's been the publication of photos
and video of an unicorn-deer in captivity at an Italian game park

There's been recent laboratory analysis of recently-obtained, alleged Yeti hairs
that have revealed it to be an hitherto "unknown" species.
And the scientist involved indicates the hairs are remarkably similar to
alleged Yeti hairs obtained 50 years ago by the late Sir Edmund Hillary.
And DNA investigations are now beginning....

Then there's new video of Canada's infamous Ogopogo soon to emerge.
And in the past few years, new creatures, previously unknown to scientists
have been found in the jungles of Laos, including one or two types of deer
and rodents
