What bugs me about the Delta Clipper

Is that it has to carry into space all the fuel necessary for a powered descent. The X-33 is like the delta clipper until descent, when it glides instead of rockets down. I'm no aeronautical engineer, but common sense tells me that has to be better and more scaleable.
