I think the FLAME webpage would be a good place to
debate...better still, debunk this Mayan calendar "end-of-the-world"
nonsense for December, 21, 2012.

Those who promote that EOTW idea based on the Mayan calendar
and the position of our Solar System on that date are full of ...that
stuff you spread on a strawberry patch.

The Mayan calendar EOTW cultists know little or nothing about science,
or history for that matter, so it might be appropriate to post some facts.

(1) The Mayan calendar starts in the year 3013 BC, ends 2012 AD.
[Fair enough, 3113 BC & 2012 AD maybe important Mayan calendar years
but..... nothing catastrophic occured in 3113 BC...no ice age...no supervolcanic
explosion...no superflood in 3113 BC.

(2) The Earth has a mass of 6 x 10^24 kilograms and an orbital velocity
of around 29,800 meters per second. Square that velocity and multiply by
a value of half Earth's mass and you can see that nothing short of
a supernova will seriously affect Earth and it's orbit.
....Our sun ain't gonna go supernova, so relax....

(3) The Earth has had near-extinction events in the past, and yet biological
life still lives here. Forget end of the world crap.

(4) The EOTW cultists like to promote the idea of a planet named Nemesis
returning in four years to do major damage to Earth.
They claim to have "images"....Those images are fraudulent...The
claims they make are outright LIES...The EOTW cultists have some serious
psychiatric issues of theirs they need to obtain help for.

(5) Finally, the December,21,2012 EOTW cultists claim that our planet's
magnetic field will flip on that day because our planet will cross
the galactic plane....
There are stars with magnetic fields within 100 light years of us that have
crossed the galactic plane in the last century, and nothing amiss has
happened to those stars or their magnetic fields.

2012 hysteria will soon be upon you folks....The EOTW lurkers will soon
start their campaign of lies, distortions and ignorance.
Get ready to respond to them!...
