The Georgians basically snuck up and kicked a sleeping bear in the ass...and now they're wondering why they're being mauled to death...
The Georgian gov't was incredibly foolish to have needlessly provoked such a vastly superior Russian military force. What on earth did they expect when they starting attacking the Ossetians and their Russian allies in South Ossetia on Friday?? "We helped you Americans in Iraq so now you should intervene and stop the Russians for us"?? Dream on, Georgians...
The US and the West have a much, much bigger problem and preoccupation right now - Iranian nuclear ambitions. And everybody knows that Russia is the only world power with any degree of influence at all on Iran. That's why even though you may hear all kinds of silly, macho, tough-sounding statements from the Bush administration or their buddy John McCain, the reality is that there's absolutely nothing that the US or any Western nations will or can do to prevent Russia's from completing its pounding punishment of Georgia. The best we can hope for is that soon the Russians will realize that they've won, and the fighting and bombing will stop.

There's nothing the US and the West will do to help Georgia in this war
