re: cultural shallowing

E.P., I like your brevity. "We'll see what happens next."

By trying to imagine life as a distributed info-being, transcended robots, postbiological humans and the like, one might note that human rules of social interaction are based on the concept of the permanence of human identity. Without it, many social rules will become outmoded. This leads to apprehensions about such fundamentals as the writ of habeas corpus. There is something to be said for the security of being situated in a physical body permanently, with all attendant rituals.

As an aware 'monad' situated within the confines of an evolving AI system, one could well be subject to the whims and perturbations of controlling entities, other monads, and social practices, criminal and worse, that are be too awful to contemplate.
