re: 28,000 light years from it !
"The solar system orbits that supermassive black hole at a distance of 28,000 light years....It takes 250 million years for just one orbit (at a speed of 270 km/sec). "
Some of those stars near our massive black had highly eccentric orbits.
Is it known the degree of eccentric orbit of our solar system and other star in this galaxy?
Or said differently is our velocity a constant 270 km/sec for the last billion years or so?
If a large amount stars in the galaxy had somewhat eccentric orbit wouldn't that affect how one measures the mass of the Galaxy?
