Interesting surface comparison... But recall that Miers was (is) a Bush crony, and that her nomination came -- and thankfully died -- before she was eventually implicated in the general degradation of the Justice Dept. and the specifics of the political hirings and firings.

Miers is, under orders of her former boss, one of the contemptuous of Congress... an object in the fight over "executive privilege" that I thought had been settled in 1974, the last time we had a president with megalomaniacal dreams of empire. Kinda makes me wonder if Bush thought he could move her high enough to be out of reach of those meddlers who choose to obey all the laws, not just the convenient ones...

On the other paw... Gov. Palin may not exactly be a stranger to abuse of power. We shall see.
