September/10th.
That's the day CERN's LHC starts smashing atoms.
Forget the nonsense about the EOTW hysteria;
no blackholes will be created.
Cosmic ray collisions are often more powerful than CERN's energy levels.
But...I wonder if the LHC will, with its enormous size and awesomely
powerful magnets, cause a "hiccup" [a regional "twitch"]
in Earth's magnetic field?
I know that the the LHC has a version of a Faraday's Cage surrounding
its magnets, but that same Faraday's Cage [magnetic shield] also carries [diverts]
magnetic flux from Earth's magnetic field around it.
What would happen if there is an EMP pulse inside the LHC?
Will it cause that hiccup in Earth's magnetic field?
An artificial Aurora maybe, many kilometers overhead?
Possibly visible as far as Antwerp.
Yes, I'm speculating.
One week to go.
