DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Pakistan - "Pakistan's government accused U.S. and international forces in Afghanistan of killing civilians in an unusual cross-border ground and air attack Wednesday that it warned could undermine cooperation in the war on terror."
If one is going to "win a war" they must EITHER:
Rule by force, have the boots on the ground to enforce cooperation with the conqueror, or
Win hearts and minds, so that the liberator is seen as a force for their good.
That's an elemental lesson, a simple lesson, an easy lesson and a lesson neither Lyndon Johnson, Richard Nixon nor George W. Bush could learn. I am aware that US forces don't have much in the way of "fire discipline", and because they have the ammunition light up the entire area on the basis of very little information. That loses the very wars one is fighting ostensibly to win.
Sad.
