The most important question is, what did he/she do with executive power?

The corollary question to ask of an inexperienced candidate is, what will he/she do with executive power?

Republican spinmeisters have been pushing Palin's "executive experience" with crowd-pleasing lines like "stood up to the oil companies", but you really should be asking what they mean by that. Is declaring Alaska open for drilling really standing up to the oil companies? Or did she just cut a deal for a higher percentage of royalties? (see also: Windfall profits taxes on oil companies, hypocrisy pertaining to)

Palin used her bully pulpit to advance extreme social conservative agendas, such as abstinence-only sex "education". How'd that work out for her?

Sometimes executive experience demonstrates a person's unfitness for office. Be careful what you ask for, you just might get it.
