This is not a political observation, or an ideological comment; just a little bit of very human melodrama...and, I hope, a compassionate take on it.

Did you get a load of Bristol's boy friend? Was that a look of panic on his face or what? Just a small town high school kid from Alaska, and suddenly you find yourself on global TV in an ill-fitting suit and an unfamiliar haircut, surrounded by your future wife's formidable family, and the Mother-In-Law From Hell whipping the leadership of the Republican Party of the USA into a frenzy just a few feet away, possibly a heartbeat away from the Presidency of the oikumene. Meanwhile, little Bristol is clinging to your hand and gazing lovingly into your eyes, in front of God and everybody.

If ever an expression could reveal a thought...I know exactly what that young man was thinking: "Oh my God, what the hell have I gotten myself into?"
