Obama the Lightgiver

"I'll be blunt. I'm not in the habit of meeting folks working for my opponent. However, my running mate said I should meet with you because of the interests you represent. That's the only reason you were granted this meeting. What is it you wished to discuss with me?"

I take a seat behind a perfectly clean desk. No papers or even a desk pad to be spotted. It is perfectly blank. It occurs to me the desks sole function is to act as a shield. Perhaps a symbolic one, but nevertheless a shield from those who he beleives intend him harm.

"I'll be blunt too. I have no love of McCain or you. America is heading into its twilight years sooner than I had anticipated. Our economy and the QOL index is seriously shot and will continue to disintegrate throughout the term of whomever is elected President. I have traditionally sided with the GOP because they were best suited to handle financial interests of the nation as well as insure the nations defensive posture around the world.

McCain knows nothing of economics. He is blissfully unaware of the economic collapse brought about by the illegal invasion of our country at the scale of 1 Los Angeles per year. He is owned by several corporations who have bankrolled him for the past ten years."

I pause and let the words sink in and to see his reaction. Obama sits and leans back in his chair.

"I see. So what is it you want of me?"

"Well, either you or McCain will be elected President. My organization is Federally funded by Executuve order unto perpetuity, regardless of the elections outcome, so I have rare the luxury of really trying to cultivate relationships with those who can further the United States interests rather than be a pawn to party interests and their financial sponsors."

"I see. And what do you perceive to be in the best interests of the United States?"

"To be honest, the most important thing on the legislative agenda is to revamp the citizenship laws. To disown the children of those who are her illegally. They are burying America's healthcare system, driving up medical costs and the tens of millions of non-English speaking children are destroying the quality of education in the schools of America. A reform bill which grants the illusion of amnesty while closing the citizenship loophole is only capable of being done by the party you represent. The GOP can't afford to do it. As the economy crumbles, the wealthy base of the GOP crumbles with it. Alienating hispanic voters and particularly the millions of children now turning 18 each year, who are the first wave of offspring born here of the Mexican economic crash of 1990 and the increased illegal exodus to America. It simply is not an option for the GOP and McCain will never do this, even thought it desperately needs to be done if America is to try and check its exponential decline."

"And why do you believe I will do this? Why should I alienate the largest growing voting bloc in the country and send them over to vote for the GOP?"

"Closing the loophole via constitutional amendment will require legislation. If done properly it can contain the voting bloc by granting permanent resident visas in lieu of citizenship to all children who are born here to those here illegally. This contains the bloc and leaves those who already have citizenship - a bloc which should peak at about 100 million in ten years."

"And again, why should I do this? 100 milion is a HUGE bloc of voters. And 95% of those are sure to be voting for me and my party."

"Well, if it is not done, that bloc will grow to 300 million in less than thirty years. We've run the numbers. 300 million. The party you work for will not exist. Nor will the GOP. The Democratic party will be replaced by PRI and PRD candidates. You will hold no value to them and they will undo anything you intend to accomplish for the nation. All the rank and file of your party will be as obsolete as Hillary."

Barack laughs. It is a genuinely warm laugh.

"I sent Hillary to Florida. She's not obsolete yet. She can do some good. Is that all you wanted to tell me?"

"Well, I wanted to meet you. You're less beholden than McCain is at this point, though I am sure that will rapidly change over the next months. I can offer the support of key GOP factions and the disappearance of certain obstacles, which will help get you elected..."

"In exchange for my promise to push a citizenship bill? A bill which will be political death for your party and simply disastrous for my own."

"Yes, something like that."

"Well, I admire your honesty. Every day I meet with folks who blow smoke up my behind and tell me I am great. I am not great. I want to do great things for this nation. What makes you think even I could succeed in passing such legislation? Surely you will recognize the resistance I will face among members of my own party - and yours for that matter."

"Yes, but you are Obama the lightbringer."

Barack laughs again.

"No, seriously. I didn't mean it as a sarcasm. There are a large number of folks who want to BELIEVE in you. Let others continue to cultivate this image for you and you could successfully offer up this legislation as "real reform" and "unafraid to make tough choices" and you would get away with it. Later, both parties would be beholden to you. You would get your 8 years and you really would have accomplished something great for America."

"I see."

Obama sits, and his chair is positioned so he can look out the window at the skyline.

"I'm curious...just what sort of obstacles can you remove?"

"Oh lots of little things. Debates go easier. Polls are released that are more favorable. The GOP get out the vote effort doesn't go as well and GOP donations don't peak as expected. The usual stuff any good special interest will offer you."

"No revelations about Palin?"

"No. She's a good person caught up in dirty politics. I've met with her. She's actually quite personable. I won't offer her up. She could actually be quite useful to both parties in the future."

"I see. Well I'll give it some thought. Do you have a card?"

I stand up and give him my card.

"SDAI-Tech1? That's your name?"

"Yes, that's my name. The number can reach me anytime 24/7. Think about it. It won't be popular with some folks and will be wildly popular with others. You might be the only candidate who considers it. Thank you for your time."
