The conventions are over, the nominees are set. The Rs will stall and stall Palin's ethics probe until after 11-4, so that won't be an issue. The National Enquirer hasn't added anything regarding her alleged affair.

I'm waiting to see if the Rs start another situation which will scare some significant part of America, resulting in a return to base jingoism ruling the US the way it has been.

It could be a terrorist attack on some US possession. God knows we've attacked their possessions enough.

It could be an attack on Iran, either through Israelis or staged through the former Soviet Union.

It could be a US supported war between Georgia and Russia.

Maybe a destabilized Pakistan requiring US troops to acquire and secure their nukes.

The Israelis might start another war in their region, maybe with Syria extending their occupation of the Golan Heights. Or Lebanon, attacking Hamas and have those situations get out of hand.

I'm aware I cannot predict how this all will play out. And I'm enough of a realist to know these people will do anything to stay in power, no matter what it would cost the world, America or the American people.

We'll see. I may be wrong.
