The Russians are returning....to ther Moon, likely next year.
Projekt Luna-Glob.
Remember that name.
For info on the Russian project, try this URL:

The Russian space agency, RKA, is intent on sending
a Luna-Glob spacecraft to the moon...next year.
Highly appropriate....2009 will be the 50th anniversary of the
successful Luna 2, and Luna 3 missions to the moon.
BTW, the Luna-Glob will consist of several Lunar penetrator probes.
Question is... will they work?
