Many people equate defeating communism with beating Russia in the cold war. We did not win the cold war by loosing the Viet Nam shooting war and fightng the Korean shooting war to a draw. None of the other proxy wars were decisive either although the Russian Afghanistan war where technically we didn't fire a shot may have helped turn the tide. We won it by pushing the Russians to the brink of economic ruin trying to keep up with our military advancements. That effort did not involve firing any shots. Perhaps the Democrats have forgotten another period of history much like the period of appeasing Hitler.
Regardless, even if 90% believe it was a gross error on Palin's part, focusing on the need for FP experience is bad for the inexperienced Obama.
