re: Galveston 1900 hurricane memorial

This was on the front page of Friday’s (or maybe Saturday’s) Houston Chronicle

This was taken on Friday.

I have not heard the status of the statue. It’s sitting on Texas Pink Granite mined near Marble Fall, TX. The whole seawall is built of the stuff. I have been to where they mine it. Beautiful stuff. It was formed during the Precambrian in the roots of an ancient mountain range that once snaked across Texas.- a little geology trivia.
