Over the last couple of days, Houston’s top weatherman, Frank Billingsley, gave a tour of Ike’s damage. Of course, with no power, I didn’t see it until today. (Frank is the only meteorologist who correctly predicted Hurricane Rita’s path 3 years ago. I exchange e-mails with him from time to time about weather related stuff).
Galveston Seawall from the air. I have been all over that Island during my 41 years of life.
Boliver Peninsula from the air. I have only been over to Bolivar a few times, so I don’t recognize much there.
Galvestonfrom the ground. I have been to many of those places.
Downtown Houston from the air. I have been in most of those buildings, especially years ago when I did a lot of IT contract work.
West End of Galveston. I spent many summer days down on that end of the island. When I was a kid, a friend of the families let us stay at their beach house all the time. I remembered it surviving Hurricane Alicia in 1983 when a lot of other beach homes did not. I wonder if it survived Ike?
