White Planets and Hoffmen
Tomorrow (Thursday - Australia time), I get to have a bit of fun. Melbourne University and the local branch of the Geological Society of Australia are organising a symposium on "Neoproterozoic extreme climates, and the origin of early life" - i.e. Snowball Earth. Prof. Paul Hoffman will be speaking.
I'll go and listen, ask a few curly questions, and soak-up some knowledge. Two Hoffmen together might be quite interesting. I may have to apologise to him for taking the family name into sensitive areas!
