It doesn't matter if there was a bailout or not.

Imagine yourself speeding in a car towards a steep cliff. You could apply the brakes and skid over the edge, or you could put the pedal-to-the-metal and have a graceful arc with additional air time before impacting.

Either way you're still going down.
