"The lesson of Vietnam was that negotiations and "treaties" are considered just another battle tactic by some people."

As part of the Geneva Accords, essentially the withdrawal of the French, Vietnam was divided at the 17th Parallel. Elections were scheduled for July, 1956. By then the US had replaced the French as the colonizing power in the south. The elections were to decide upon unification.

The US and Diem rejected both honoring the Accords by holding the election but denied the Vietnamese the democratic right to determine their own destiny. The reason for abdicating the Accords and democracy? Eisenhower, even, acknowledged the North would get 80% of the vote.

And then you look at Bush's record on keeping the word of the United States, and you'd stop implying that others are dishonorable.

Start with the Geneva Convention. Move onto the Principles of the United Nations and upholding the Constitution of the United States. And by now you should be sick, and start to realize that if there is a "rogue nation" out there it's been the US under Bush.
