Market Fundamentalism is very similar to religious Fundamentalism. When confronted with its failure, the supposed cause is always 'we weren't pure enough'.
I point out that God smote Reverend so-and-so with cancer? Well, they weren't pure enough. Bad crop in a community of religious nuts who eschewed weeding and tried to pray away the weeds? Not pure enough. Faithful dies after the faith healer does his thing? Not pure enough.
I point out that the roots of this problem were in un-regulated writing of sub-prime mortgages? In the Un-regulated securitization process? In the Un-regulated Credit Default Swap Market? In the super-institutions that formed after de-regulation?
You find the few areas where regulation was involved, in an arguable capacity, and you declare: NOT PURE ENOUGH.
God Market hath smote them for their sins against the holy market. Lets burn all the regulations, that will fix the problem once and for all!!!!
