The reality is this "war on terrorism" is impossible and not winnable. Terrorism is a tactic, not an enemy. The use of "Shock and Awe" in Baghdad by American forces was pure terrorism by any definition, designed to break the will of the Iraqis, military and civilian.
This phony "war" would seemingly go on as long as any kid any where threw a rock at an American, as long as any Afghan or Iraqi hated the US for killing his family. Now that's a great place to be, isn't it?
Bush has set himself up as a "wartime" President, complete with extraordinary powers. And the American people fell for it, giving up significant liberties along the way. With no way out.
Iraq is about ownership, not liberation. Afghanistan the same.
And along the way OBL is delighted beyond belief. One of his main goals was to draw the US into attacking the Middle East so as to make us vulnerable over there.
Wouldn't it be nice to have the $2 trillion the war in Iraq will eventually cost?

This "war on terrorism" is completely phony. An excuse for ongoing oppression.
