I'm not seeing any outrage yet.

The financial shenanigans don't seem to have sparked the anger that, say, Enron or WorldCom did even though this is orders of magnitude bigger.

I, for instance, believe there should be criminal accountability for thousands of financial people and politicians on both sides of the aisle.

I do not believe the very same people who allowed this mess to happen, who promoted and profited from it, can get us out. We need new blood, new ideas and new methods from new people.

If the same people who got us in could get us out they should be shot for allowing it to happen. I was hoping they had done the best they could, but clearly that's not true if they have the answer. Off with their heads.

They should get a fair trial. The Judge. "Mr. Greenspan, did you keep interest rates low even while predicting the housing crisis?" Mr. Greenspan. "Ahem. I want to thank the committee, the chairman - - - " "Yes or no, Mr. Greenspan?" "I think we want to remember the context of the times - - - " "We'll assume that's a 'yes'. Off with his head."

And the right of appeal. Mr. Greenspan, on the way to the guillotine, first appeal. "You can't do this!" Second appeal. "Please don't do this!!" Final appeal, to the Supreme Court. "God, don't let them do this!!!"

And then "Bam". On to the next one.

That would be a deterence, and selling the tapes to people living in tents pitched along the soupline could help pay for it.
