The electoral heavily favors Obama right now
Whoever chairs it now will most likely chair it for the 2009 session. Republicans are estimated to have 7 or 8 Senatorial Seats that are possibles for Dems to win and there are about 35 Congressional Seats the Dems may win from the Republicans. IOW it'll be a whole new deck of cards when the new President is sworn in but since the Dems have a majority in both houses now (barely in the Senate), the chairmanships should remain the same unless one of the Dem chairs loses his/her seat.
