Dam!

All my life I've heard the arguments for breaching the dams. I've toured many of the dams along the Columbia while growing up, watched the salmon make their way up the ladders, watched through windows as massive fish took a rest break during their climb. Its never made sense to me how breaching a dam would be any better than the ladders. It always seemed to me the fish ladders are probably easier to climb than natural rapids.

Its interesting to see the argument that the dams were worse in the 80's and have gotten much better. I like to see that we're learning to manage the environment better rather than throwing away the electrical generating capacity of our dams for no net gain. Lets see if this study gets any further attention, or if its simply dismissed like other studies that don't come to the expected conclusion.
