But apparently Elizabeth is following close behind him on the same low road. Wackos are all over the political spectrum but this is not a screwball fringe group or a rogue political cadre operating outside party discipline. It is mainline campaign doctrine, approved by the candidate; anything goes because after the election it will all be forgotten--if they lose. And if they win, the ends will totally justify the means.
It is pretty clear that there is more going on here than just religious fanaticism, or even a cynical attempt to pander to religious fanaticism for political purposes. These people are scared, in a gibbering panic, they are desperate, and they are utterly ruthless. This is more than just pious humbug, there is a profound social pathology at work here. It has nothing to do with ideology, it is pure greed and lust for money and power, cloaked in hypocrisy and self-righteousness. They don't care how they win.
I don't even want to talk to these people any more. They will stop at nothing, and they must be stopped.

I always respected and liked Bob, for the same reasons Ionce liked and respected McCain.
