And a bit more to the story you left out...
Still, violence was not called for, but he is hardly the innocent victim.
Try going beyond Fox news...

Here’s the Associated Press’s take (which then got picked up by other outlets):"Police say a man was assaulted with a crowbar in the parking lot of a New Jersey restaurant for wearing a Donald Trump T-shirt.
Peter Yankowski says he was walking in Bloomfield last week wearing a T-shirt featuring the Republican presidential nominee standing in front of an American flag. He says a motorist questioned him about his “Trump for President” shirt and they exchanged insults. He says a scuffle occurred soon after.
Police say Yankowski was struck with a crowbar several times and was treated at the scene. They say the motorist fled before officers arrived."
The Fox report makes the 62-year-old victim Peter Yankowski sound completely innocent. The AP report mentions an “exchange of insults,” but no more. Both fall short of the complete truth.
Let’s hear it from the horse’s mouth, from an interview Yankowski gave local station WPIX before either story was published. Yankowski was walking down a road in Bloomfield when a man driving a gray sedan slowed down to harass him. “He called me white trash, cursed me out, gave me the finger,” he told reporters.
The Trump supporter responded by taking the high road, turning the cheek, and… ha ha, just kidding, he responded with racial epithets.
“I’m not going to lie, I did,” Yankowski told WPIX when asked if he called the driver, who was black, the n-word.
He then walked to a nearby Friendly’s and ordered ice cream, only for the second man to walk in fifteen minutes later. According to witnesses interview by WPIX, it was Yankowski who stood up and began yelling expletives at the man, leading the second man to respond in kind.
WPIX reports only that Yankowski was screaming curses, but The Independent reports on his exact words: “He goes like, ‘You’re a n***er. You’re not even supposed to be here. This is a white people spot.’”
And here...

Yankowski was wearing a T-shirt emblazoned with the words "Trump for President, Let's Make America Great Again" as he walked across the Broad Street Bridge last Wednesday. The man spotted the shirt, slowed down in his car and according to Yankowski, a war of words began. The conversation ended up escalating.
"He called me white trash" and other obscenities, Yankowski told PIX11 News. He responded to the driver with racial epithets of his own.
"I'm not going to lie, yes I did," he said, in response to a question asking if he'd used the n-word with the driver. "I was angry," said Yankowski.
He went into a nearby Friendly's restaurant and ordered. Within the next 15 minutes, the man with whom he'd had words entered as well.
From that point on, it's less clear as to who was the aggressor. According to an eyewitness, Friendly's waitress Mimi Sonmez, Yankowski, who is white, verbally taunted the other man, who's black. Among the taunts was more racist language, by Yankowski's own admission.
"I wish I had the nerve to keep walking and disregard it," he said. "But he struck a nerve."
The two men agreed to take their dispute outside, and on the way out of the door, according to Yankowski, the man produced a a two foot-long, steel-barred, anti-theft steering wheel lock.
The man, whom he described as being in his mid 20s, 5-foot-8 with mutton chop sideburns, beat Yankowski with the metal device.
"Hit me there, hit me there," the Trump supporter said, pointing to his forearm, arm and leg.
The man fled on foot after the restaurant staff did their best to break up the fight.
Yankowski, meanwhile, says he regrets letting the situation escalate. However, he added, in an interview in front of the restaurant, the issue goes beyond the brawl of which he considers himself the victim.
"People cannot use their first amendment rights to oppress other people's speech," he said.
I guess he's your kind of American, Rob... The average Patriotic Trump supporter!
In your America protesting at a Trump Rally deserves a violent attack, but yelling "Ni**er" - well, thats just free speech....
