Even if Trump gracefully accepts a defeat at the polls...

...his followers may not. No doubt they will feel the election was rigged, and the conspiracy theories will start blooming on Redneck Radio and the Supermarket Tabloid Press. There may very well be trouble. These guys don't seem to have noticed they are no longer representative of this country, they're just another disgruntled minority.

Obama won an electoral and voter majority twice, and they still can't come to grips with the idea that most Americans simply preferred him to their Wonderbread wingnut versions of reality. Its got to be the fault of The Establishment, or the Bilderbergs, or the Illuminati, or the Liberal Elite, or the Masons. Or the Commies.

Come to think of it, Dubya won only his last election fair and square, in his first term he won the electoral vote only through a judicial intervention, and even then he lost the popular vote. The Republicans have lost the popular vote in 5 of the last 6 Presidential elections.
If they lose it this year it will be 6 of 7.

Both of the Bushes were disgraced and ignored by their own party, even Bush I, who (whatever you may think of his politics) was very well prepared for the job and carried it off most competently. Come to think of it, when you consider Nixon, the Republicans haven't been able to elect anyone even they like except for Ronald Reagan, and before that, Eisenhower (about the last Republican even Democrats can agree was competent as well as successful).

And before Ike...a long string of Democratic administrations all the way back to Herbert Hoover. I think I see a pattern.
