Wife still has family back in NJ and they say people panicked and ran down rte 1 and the Pulaski skyway in Jersey city away from NYC in terror, only those in it fropm the start of the Mercury theatre chuckled at their ignorance and fuled the hysteria. Add a little Hitler to the mix and U got a WAR of the Worlds....
