Oddly enough, the one time I watched a debate in the British House of Commons was in the spring of 1989 -- just under 20 years ago, when I was spending a semester abroad.
The subject happened to be climate change, and in the 15 min or so I sat in the gallery one of the MP's was discussing how models predicted that the UK would become colder and wetter even as the world warmed up, due to the effect upon heat transport in the Atlantic.
