This eliminates all problems with Vista... I have never tried it, but a lot of friends of mine are quite pleased with the result.
1) Remove Hard drive
2) apply magnetic field
3) Locate Linux install disks
4) Re-connect hard drive
5) Insert linux install cd.
6) Power on system, direct bios to CD drive, install.
Or, switch to Mac.
Frankly, Windows is dead. Its a rotting corpse that needs to be buried. If you like the convenience of a branded well-supported OS on a quality built system that still retains all the power of a Unix shell without silly hacks like Cygwin, then Mac is great. If you like the power of Linux but don't want any frills, then there are a dozen solutions out there.
If you have legacy software that you must absolutely run on a windows platform, try Parallels or VMWare or any number of solutions to run a virtual instance of XP.
Windows may turn it around- they did in the past with the excellent, fast and stable Win2000... But they have been sliding back into garbage ever since then with XP which was not one bit better than 2000 but half as fast, and now Vista, which is just bilge water.
