My original post asked, "Is Al Franken qualified to be a Senator? Not that it takes much, nowadays. Looking at the Senate sometimes is like looking at the House of Lords. Only with more power."
A rational, non-defensive response might have been, "No, but he could win anyway." The reflexive response was revealing. Oddly, qualifications only seem to be an issue with one person in politics nowadays.
I have never said "anyone could be President."
Palin, unlike any of the other candidates, is the elected governor of a state. She got to her position working her way up as an average citizen. She got there without a Chicago machine, and without her election opponents being sabotaged out of her path.
She has been subjected to an onslaught of partisan insanity and dumpster-diving (none of which is being done on Democratic candidates) that she has weathered better than most people would have.
She's no Newt Gingrich, but then, neither are the rest of the candidates. I still have a favorable opinion of her, and think she will be in a very good position by 2012.
I think McCain has a decent chance of winning, myself. You have no idea how many people the Obama campaign has alienated along the way.
Again, it might be fun to poll people here to see which of us is doing the most "gibbering."
You really think Republicans are as likely to go nuts after a loss as Democrats?
re: For me? You shouldn't have.
