A new victim!
Most of the others here have had to endure my old Tampa stories, but you are a new captive audience!
My grandfather was a lector de fábrica, a professional reader who read to the Cuban cigar workers in Key West and Tampa to entertain and educate them while they hand-rolled "the finest tobacco in the world". A few years ago I was interviewed for an NPR "Quest for Sound" radio program where they explored this fascinating bit of Tampa history. Andy Garcia did the narration. It was my 15 minutes of fame.
