Scene: the kitchen. HE is working up a report on a laptop. SHE is washing the dishes.
HE:
Find me someone to vote for. I don't like any of them.
SHE, laughing:
There's more than just the President on the ballot. Have you decided whether to vote for Dave [3-term state rep] or Dan?
HE:
Dan who?
SHE:
Dan, the oldest's classmate Dan. They went to Spain and France together on that school trip, remember? Good kid, really smart. He's still living in town, too.
HE:
But Dave's been OK for the district, and he was a good customer when the kids delivered his newspaper.
SHE:
I know, but aren't you the one who always says "Throw the bastards out"?
HE:
Dave's not a bastard.
SHE sighs:
Aye, there's the rub. I don't know who to vote for.
Distant voice of 17-YEAR-OLD from living room:
Vote for Ron Paul!
HE:
For state rep?
17-YEAR-OLD:
Oh. Never mind.
