re: Details on Enceladus
I have to admit to a certain chauvanist pleasure when seeing pictures like that. It's almost as if by viewing that scene I have created it and it didn't exist until I did see it.
I have followed remote streams in the mountains, going cross-country, and seen a few spectacular waterfalls. It takes some small effort to realize that those waterfalls have been going, day and night, for hundreds if not thousands of years, independent of me and my awareness of them.
Same with Enceladus. It is there, in it's glory, and has been. Despite the vague idea I have that it wasn't created until my consciousness was focussed upon it.
Great picture. Thanks.
