Trump's position on Muslim immigration is essentially non-existent, because it's a combination of a) whatever he thinks he can get away with at the time, and b) the last thing the little bird on his shoulder whispered into his ear. When he's being Mr Strongman, it's a total ban on all Muslims. When he's forced to interface with actual Americans, his handlers struggle to bring him down a notch.
"Islamophobic" is name-calling? It's a descriptive term, and one that's completely applicable in this case. When I say my car is gray, I'm not name-calling. To say that Trump cynically manipulates his audience's own Islamophobia is a demonstrable statement of fact.
It's curious that you say Trump isn't your guy, but then steadfastly refuse to let any daylight get between him and yourself. Admit it, the only way you won't vote for Trump is if you're the guy he shoots on Fifth Avenue.
