There's a part of me which thinks that a deal should be a deal. I got my cards with stated charges and fees, which could be changed after 6 months. Then the permanent ones would take over. That was fine. And it seemed to go gunnysack. Even though I brought them all down to a zero balance every month I was getting notices that dire things could happen. Not all of them seemed to be under my control, and if I were unable for whatever reason to pay bills one month the credit card conditions would change rapidly.
I paid off the credit cards and cancelled all but one which I don't carry with me unless travelling. For "pocket money" I carry and use a debit card. I realize not everyone can do that, or wants to, but I'm lucky and did want to.
Somehow that's a lot more comfortable. I didn't realize that those cards were a barely subliminal burden lurking somewhere in the dark recesses.

Wow. That's information, thanks. I sort of suspected that.
