US "negotiating" for a forever home in Iraq. Iraqis want US gone.

There are a lot of reports like this, I just grabbed one. Is this the graphic demonstration of the last Big Lie of the Bush Administration regarding Iraq? Seems to me that Bush has always promised that when the Iraqis want the US gone the US would leave. The Iraqis want the US gone, but as we know "leaving" to Bush means retreating to at least 4 very large bases in the desert with a lot of troops and planes.

Think Progress -"Today, the UK Independent has a troubling report on a “secret plan” for U.S. occupation in Iraq allegedly being pushed by the Bush administration:

"A secret deal being negotiated in Baghdad would perpetuate the American military occupation of Iraq indefinitely, regardless of the outcome of the US presidential election in November."

There's another puzzlement here. Bush has always claimed he simply followed the directions of his military people in conducting his wars. And the wars are failures. Is the US military so incompetent it can't "win" a war in Iraq or Afghanistan? It is if you listen to GWB.

And last, with Bush leaving office I believe one would have to acknowledge that 5 years in Iraq and 7 in Afghanistan those wars have been failures. Abject failures.

Watch the Conservatives continue to term the recognition of their failures as "surrender". Had they wanted to "win" these wars they should have won them.
