Utility versus symbology

The alignment of those slabs looks for more utilitarian than symbolic. A temple. For all the researchers know the slabs could have been used to create shadows or alignment for various purposes, astronomical, calendrical, etc. The markings could have been territorial markers or identification for a tribe. So many various possibilities. Judging by the images they also could have been united by ropes or thatching to form housing or shelter.

It should be interesting to see what else the region reveals over time. In Iran, Iraq and much of Turkey are a plethora of sites that promise to reveal all sorts of wonders once researchers get access and look around.
