The Iraq war is lost and has been a complete disaster

There has been no political reconciliation at all between the various Iraqi factions, and the facade of relative peace (still with a heck of a lot more violence and killing than almost every other country on earth) is only the calm before the storm of civil strife that will inevitably erupt when we leave. This war hasn't been won, not even close. And much of the temporary decrease in violence has come because of ethnic cleansing that has, for now, separated the warring communities.

Iraq is an artificial state in a temporary holding pattern - just wait and see what happens when the US troops finally pack up and leave...
