Current Events » in reply to Russian academic's prediction is food for thought

The ethnic divisions of the USSR were much deeper. And even Palin's husband advocated a US breakup.

His assessment of the rising influence of Russia and declining influence of the US is obvious. The US had it's sole superpower moment and squandered it.

Clearly globalization will mean the decline of the US on the world stage and the rise of Russia, India and China, for starters. The transfer of US capital to China, India and the Middle East has easily imagined consequences.

The dependence upon foreign investors to finance the debt of the US does not bode well.

I'm not sure why the Russian guy made news. It would have been nice to get rid of Texas, but the damage is done.

It would be nice to see a country where real diversity works, though. Where there are minorities who have to work together, rather than a majority which tolerates minorities. I'm sure they're out there, I just can't think of any offhand.
