Collapse of walls, communism and capitalism. Construction of new walls.

In the last twenty years we've seen the collapse of communism and then capitalism. We've seen the destruction of the Berlin Wall. Reagan pleading for that Wall to be torn down is in icon for Conservatives. And yet there is the American or American-financed construction of walls in Iraq, the West Bank, and along the border with Mexico.

Africa is a mess, drug cartels funded with American money can raise as much hell as they choose in Central and South America. In the US the middle class has been under attack for a long is disappearing, and the US economy is looking more like Central America's or the African states. Which don't work. A poor underclass with a wealthy upperclass is a recipe for revolution. The penal system in the US is turning out the shock troops of a less than peaceful society.

It seems as if there are serious adjustments being made. Socialism doesn't work. Neither does capitalism. Clearly a blend of the two is necessary which allows for a middle class of people with productive work. There must be a way for people to believe they have a way for the dreams of their children to be realized.

Sadly, the wealthy will not share that wealth willingly. People with more than they could ever spend want more and more. It's the nature of the ego. And yet it can't remain in the hands of the few. It's not in their best interests, either. Depriving humans of basic rights such as medical care creates hostility toward the system, more support for changes at any price.

I clearly don't think anything is imminent, and I don't see anything changing the dynamic. It looks like an ugly future for the US unless there is a massive push to create a middle class, and that's not happening.
