Hard to say.

In most places, it's illegal to sell your organs, or become a prostitute. In some countries, conscription is the rule. But like Bowser says, I can get a tattoo. Around here, a minor needs my permission to get a tattoo or a piercing, but not an abortion. Go figure.

As for the "perception" experiment in Sweden, anybody who drives a car knows about projecting your body into a different space. After driving for a long time, you start to feel like the car is part of you, and wince if you scrape a pole as if you had done it to your leg.

I expect when video games start to develop into "helmet" interfaces (I'm curious why this hasn't caught on yet more than it has--still too expensive?) the phenomenon will be widespread.
